Carvajal: “We apologize to the fans for not being good enough over the 90 minutes"

“We are sad, it was a bad match and nothing worked out for us", stated Benzema.
Dani Carvajal talked to the press following Real Madrid's match against Atlético at the Vicente Calderón: “Firstly, I want to apologise to the fans for not being good enough for the 90 minutes. It was a bad game. The opponents were better and we have to congratulate them"

"We are still the leaders and we have to defend that. They have won the last few derbies but at the end of the season we will see who wins the titles. The good thing is that this is in the league and we do not have to make a comeback. We have to forget about it and continue on. We are a point above our rivals".

Time to move on
“We gave away chances and perhaps those were the worst 30 minutes of the season. It is very early to try and read the game. The result affects us psychologically a little bit but we will arrive at conclusions this week. The team is strong enough mentally to overcome these situations".

Benzema: "I hope we win the next game".
"We are sad at the moment. We apologise to our fans and people who like football because everything was a disaster. I hope we win our next game".

"People might think that we didn't have the will to play, but we are always motivated to play football and more so with a match like this one. The problem is that nothing worked out for us today. It is important that we remain top of the table".

A week to work
"It is always difficult to play against Atlético. Now what we have to do is rest, work well and think about the next game".
