NEWS | 21/12/2014'L'Equipe' and the rest of the world's press highlight the Whites' conquest of the Club World Cup in their daily editions.
In Spain, Marca highlighted the Whites' spectacular year: “The world at their feet. Real Madrid close out an unforgettable year”. As opened its digital front page with: “Madrid on top of the world. Two finals specialists, Sergio Ramos and Bale, handed them their maiden Club World Cup in a tough game”.
El Mundo also ran with Madrid's great year and the strong finish to it: “An unforgettable Madrid side. The Club World Cup was a logical conclusion for the team that has earned the title as the best in the world”. El País went with “Real Madrid have the world at their feet. The Spanish team closes a glorious year by winning their fourth intercontinental trophy”.
One of the other big dailies, ABC, ran with: “The king of the world. Madrid beat San Lorenzo to win the only title they were missing: the Club World Cup”. La Razón summed up Ancelotti's mens' success thusly: “Real Madrid secure the only title they were missing”.
The Whites' world supremacy was also reported in Germany. Sports daily Bild ran with the following title in its online version: “Real Madrid wears the footballing crown”.
Gareth Bale adorned the majority of the back pages. The Guardian wrote “Ramos and Bale's goals crown Real Madrid champions of the world in Morocco”. The Daily Mail proclaimed: “Madrid win their fourth title of the year, picking up their 22nd straight victory to lift their first Club World Cup”.
The rest of Europe
L'Equipe highlighted Madrid's feat on its front cover: “Real Madrid, on top of the world”. In Italy, La Gazzetta dello Sport made mention of its compatriot, the Real Madrid coach: “Ancelotti, global triumph”.
In Argentina, where San Lorenzo were the main point of interest, the daily Olé ran with: “White smoke. God nor the Pope could help San Lorenzo and there was to be no miracle”. Meanwhile, La Nación declared: “San Lorenzo lose to Real Madrid and the dream ends almost without a fight”.
In Colombia, daily newspaper El Espectador ran with: “Real Madrid, with James in the starting line-up, are proclaimed Club World Cup champions for 2014". While in Brazil, O Globo went with “Madrid are proclaimed champions of the world”.
