Facundo Campazzo, new Real Madrid player

NEWS | 30/08/2014

The 23-year-old Argentine point guard joins the team after winning the league in his country and being selected as MVP
Facundo Campazzo (b. 23 March 1991, Ciudad de Córdoba, Argentina) is now a Real Madrid player and will complete the team's trio of point guards along with Sergio Rodríguez and Sergio Llull. Campazzo is one of Argentina's rising stars, having taken Peñarol del Mar del Plata to league victory.
The point guard is known for his intelligence, speed and agility. He possesses great ball control and good accuracy from outside. With an ability to anticipate and vision on the court, he is a very competitive and intense player in defence, ending last season's Argentine League with the highest number of assists (6 per game) and recoveries (2.1).

Alongside Nocioni he will form Real Madrid's Argentine pair.

Campazzo was a key player in Peñarol's title with a great performance in the finals (33 points in the last game) that earned him the MVP award, which he also won in the 11/12 season. He started his playing career in his native Córdoba with Unión Eléctrica and soon joined the youth ranks at Peñarol, where he excelled from the outset.

A big reputation
His character and fighting spirit made him a revelation in the 09/10 season, just one year after his debut in the First Division. In the 13/14 campaign he was spectacular, with stats that confirm it: 16 points, 4 rebounds and 5.9 assists per match and a percentage from the 6.75 line of 37.8%. A senior international, he will play for his national side in the World Cup in Spain.
