California will be the first US stadium to come into play during this European preseason. The Whites play their opener in the International Champions Cup against Inter Milan in the California Memorial Stadium at the University of Berkeley (26 July 15:10 local time, 00:10 CET). Inaugurated in 1923, the stadium has an astroturf pitch and a capacity of 73,347 and is the home of university American football team the California Golden Bears.
Roma will be the Whites’ second opponent in the International Champions Cup (29 July at 20:40, 30 July at 03:40 CET). Ancelotti’s men will travel to the Cotton Bowl in Dallas (Texas), which has a capacity of 68,252 spectators and is the home of FC Dallas in Major League Soccer. The stadium was opened in 1932 and six matches were played there during the 1994 World Cup, including Spain – South Korea (2-2).
The final match in Group A will also be also be a great clash. Real Madrid face Manchester United in Ann Arbor (2 August 16:06 local time, 22:06 CET). It will be the first time the Whites have visited the stadium in Michigan. The University of Michigan Stadium, home to the National Collegiate Athletic Association of American Football team, the Michigan Wolverines, will host the game. It is the biggest stadium in the country and the fourth biggest in the world and has a capacity of 109,901 spectators.
Miami will host the final again
The final of this prestigious tournament will take place in the Sun Life Stadium in Miami once again, when the winner of Group A will face the winner of Group B, which is made up of Liverpool, Manchester City, Olympiacos and Milan. Real Madrid and Chelsea were the 2013 finalists (3-1).
