Fourth Champions League final for Ancelotti

NEWS | 30/04/2014 | Antonio M. Leal

During his spell at the helm of Milan, the Italian was champion in 2003 and 2007 and runner-up in 2005.
Carlo Ancelotti was perhaps the main architect of his team's semi-final victory over Bayern. His exceptional work in the White dugout has been praised around the world. In his first season in Spain he has managed to take Real Madrid to the Champions League final, twelve years after they won their ninth European Cup.

It is the fourth time the Italian coach has reached the last match of the European Cup. The three previous ones came during his time at Milan. In 2003, he lifted the Champions League trophy after beating Juventus on penalties. Two years later he fell to Liverpool, again from the 12-yard spot. However, in 2007, Milan had their revenge on the English side: 2-1 and a second title for Ancelotti.

Fourth manager with four finals
With the match that takes place in Lisbon on the 24th of May, Ancelotti will equal Miguel Muñoz, Lippi and Ferguson as the coaches with the most European Cup finals, with four each. In addition, after the win in Munich, the Italian coach has had more victories than in any of his other Champions League campaigns. The 10 recorded by the Whites this season surpasses the nine he got with Milan in 2002/03 and 2004/05.
