"This union will move the club closer to its millions of supporters all over the world", declared the president, Florentino Pérez.Real Madrid and Emirates presented, in the presidential box of the Santiago Bernabéu, an agreement which will see the airline sponsor the club for the next five years. The ceremony was presided over by Florentino Pérez; Salem Obaidalla, Emirate's senior vice-president of Commercial Operations for the European and Russian Federations; and Boutros Boutros, the company's divisional senior vice-president of Corporate Communications. The Real Madrid president stated during the event: “I am very pleased with this partnership. I believe this will move the club closer to its millions of supporters all over the world”. The first team squad also attended the presentation.
Through this agreement Emirates will become the club's official airline for the next five seasons. Florentino Pérez highlighted the importance of the alliance between Real Madrid and the airline company: “I am especially pleased with this partnership between two global and leading brands. I believe we are at the beginning of an intense relationship that will move the club closer to the millions of supporters it has all over the world”.
The Real Madrid president emphasised the commonalities between the White club and airline : “Emirates understands that commitment, loyalty and values, as well as hard work and devotion, are essential when it comes to taking on big challenges. Both companies share these values and principles, which will make our agreement very special indeed".
Meanwhile, Salem Obaidalla, Emirate's senior vice-president of Commercial Operations for the European and Russian Federations, said: "The union between Emirates and Real Madrid, the world's most lauded club, is fantastic. With this agreement we will continue to show our support towards sports and sports fans across the globe".
To conclude the event there was an exchanging of gifts. The White club presented a jersey with the name Emirates printed on the back, while the airline returned the gesture with a miniature model of one of its Airbuses.
