Star man in the Séptima final

Measuring in at 2.07m and after coming up through the ranks at the University of Pennsylvania, Randy Meister checked in at Real Madrid in 1978 following a spell in Italian basketball. The American adapted seamlessly into the team led by Lolo Sainz that featured some prolific scorers, such as Brabender and Szczerbiak. He was a really strong performer, a fine defender and rebounder who captured a European Cup, two leagues and one Intercontinental Cup at our club.
Meister's crowning moment
in Madrid colours was in the final of the seventh European Cup held in 1980 in Berlin against Maccabi. The center was influential under the basket against Williams and Perry and posted 21 points that were decisive as our team prevailed. Meister's stint at Real Madrid came to an end in 1981, when he departed for Basket Livorno.
