With the support of the Oficina de Representación del Estado para Europa e Iberoamérica (the State Representative Office for Europe and Iberian America) via its Sistema para el Desarrollo Integral de la Familia del Gobierno de Veracruz (DIF) (The Veracrzuz government's system for whole family development), the Veracruz state government, with the assistance of the Real Madrid Foundation and the different town DIFs will role out the Real Madrid Foundation's project in the state of Veracruz.
There are currently six socio-sporting schools operating across the state, in the towns of Coatzacoalcos, Puerto de Veracruz, Xalapa, Córdoba, Tuxpan and Martínez de la Torre, and these school contribute to the development of the state's children and adolescents and provide them with space in which to learning, meet and foster social cohesion.
The participants are boys, girls, adolescents and young people aged between 6 and 17. Priority is given to boys and girls who find themselves at risk from social exclusion, live in hostile environments or in situations of social violence and poverty and those who have been victims of natural disasters, as well as pupils from the most disadvantaged socio-economic spheres.
To complement the sporting activities, the participants receive nutritional supplements and their academic progress is closely monitored, whilst those who require it are offered school reinforcement classes.
