REAL MADRID C. F. THE BERNABÉU TOUR, A NEW INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCEReal Madrid is opening a space of more than 1,000 metres squared and a total of 14 new installations covering the past and present of the Best Club of the Twentieth Century.
Real Madrid presents an extension to its new Bernabéu Tour, which focuses on interactivity, design, depth of content and state-of-the-art technology.
The new space will incorporate new forms of museum audioguides, encouraging visitors to participate. For that, not only has the most cutting edge technology been installed, but also so have applications that have been created exclusively for the museum. Standout features are the integration of real-time statistics, mapping, the latest generation of postproduction effects, high-powered graphics, interactive multi-touch screens and a world-leading, pioneering control of programming.
In total, there are more than 150 pieces of kit connected by over six kilometres of cable, which are there to support the content displays. The result is an exciting, interactive experience.
For the procurement of this content more than 40 historic archives have been consulted, over 5,000 photographs have been edited, and almost 90 hours of audio-visual material has been watched. Also, more than 25 hours of material has been filmed with the first team that will be used exclusively in the museum.
In the display cases, over 200 exclusive and emblematic objects have from Real Madrid's history are displayed.
A walk through the 14 new installations
1. LATIDO BLANCO (THE PULSE OF REAL MADRID)
A burning passion that also represents the emotions of millions of Whites fans united by the same feelings, welcomes visitors and prepares them for the emotional experience that awaits them in the new space.
2. LEGENDARY PLAYERS
A large multi-touch, multi-user tactile wall encompasses an installation focused on Real Madrid's legendary players. Each player has a biography, which displays statistics from both their Real Madrid and international careers. Finally, there is a multimedia gallery with photos and videos of their best moments.
3. FIRST TEAM AUDIOVISUAL
An audio-visual section starring the 23 players who make up the first team, projected on a screen measuring 11 metres. On the screen, data and statistics of each player are superimposed, which allows us to know more about their abilities on the pitch, which up until now were unknown. The space also has two cabinets containing official shirts, boots and gloves signed by each of the Real Madrid C.F. players.
4. THE BEST OF THE BEST
From the first Ballon d'Or won by Alfredo Di Stéfano, passing through Zidane's FIFA World Player and Hugo Sánchez's Golden Boot, arriving at Casillas's Golden Glove and the latest Ballon d'Or won by Cristiano Ronaldo. It is a breath-taking space that also hosts 27 cabinets containing the most prestigious awards won by Real Madrid's players throughout the club's history.
An installation consisting of 44 monitors reproducing a loop of Real Madrid's best ever goals. Goal-fest pays homage to the top 10 goal scorers in Real Madrid's history (Raúl, Di Stéfano, Santillana, Cristiano Ronaldo, Puskas, Hugo Sánchez, Gento, Pirri, Butragueño and Amancio), and the goals scored to win some of the most iconic trophies in our history.
6. GLOBAL PASSION FOR REAL MADRID
The most technologically ambitious proposal on the Bernabéu Tour. This application mixes different technologies and is capable of interpreting online data, and sorting it according to its geolocation before then producing an attractive visual representation by means of a volumetric-mapping projection.
In the case of Planet Real Madrid, the application serves to make a graphic representation of the presence of Real Madrid fans around the globe. Following the philosophy of participation and interaction, visitors can form part of this planet by using the hashtag #tourbernabéu.
Eight European Cups reside in a display case brimming with honours won by the team created in 1931. The zone includes four interactive screens that recap the history of the basketball side, from its modest beginnings in the 30s, to the glorious 70s, right up to the latest triumphs.
8. FUNDACIÓN REAL MADRID
An installation dedicated to the important work carried out by the Foundation through its more than 300 national and international projects in over 70 countries, that have helped approximately 60,000 people, mostly children.
9. SOUNDS OF REAL MADRID
A breath-taking structure consisting of 200 metres of brass piping that lead to 14 openings of varying heights. Each one of these openings contains recordings that allow visitors to hear different sounds related to Real Madrid, such the atmosphere in the Santiago Bernabéu during a match, the first team training, the PA system announcing the line ups, commentary of famous goals by national and international broadcasters, Real Madrid fans singing, as well as the Real Madrid anthems.
10. BERNABÉU AND DI STÉFANO, TWO MEN WHO CHANGED THE HISTORY OF THE CLUB
Santiago Bernabéu and Alfredo Di Stéfano changed the history of the club, for which a corner of the Tour has been built in their honour. An audio-visual display summarises their main accomplishments and the influence they have had on generations of the Real Madrid family.
As well as that, there are two display cabinets that contain interesting objects belonging to both personalities, for example Di Stéfano’s first pair of football boots and his first River Plate membership card from when he was 10-years-old, and in the case of Bernabéu, the bank bond he obtained to expand the Santiago Bernabéu, and the prized possession retrieved from the club’s archives, the menu on which he conceived the European Cup, which was signed by everyone who accompanied him on that lunch.
11. KINGS OF EUROPE
The centre-piece of the new extension. A sacred place for a trophy that makes Real Madrid unique. More than 150 metres squared dominated by a trophy cabinet that contains the 9 European Cups won by the club. The facility has been conceived as a sensory journey, a thrill-packed trip through time that begins in the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris, in 1956 and ends in Glasgow, in 2002, with the best goal ever scored in a final. Opposite the trophy cabinet stands an 18-metre screen made from one-way glass, a material that normally allows you to watch without being watched but which is used here to house audiovisual equipment, while allowing for an ingenious GAMEEE that gradually reveals commemorative objects, while projecting a multimedia presentation of the nine titles.
12. YOU ARE REAL MADRID!
The installation is essentially aimed at visitor participation. Four webcams allow guests to take a selfie and process it in real time. The image is then automatically integrated into a large photo of the Real Madrid first-team players. Each visitor’s photograph functions as a small part of a large Real Madrid mosaic.
13. THE LATEST TRIUMPH
The new extension includes a specially-reserved space for the last title won by the first team, which at the moment is the club’s 19th Copa del Rey trophy. A completely white room, which concludes the circuit that begins with the Latido Blanco, with a large pedestal in the middle on which Real Madrid’s last trophy resides.
14. RM EMOTIONS
The ‘Emotions’ film brings the new Bernabéu Tour extension to a climatic finish. ‘Emotions’ is a 4-minute short filmed with cinema and super-slow motion cameras that will appeal to the shared emotions of Real Madrid fans.
