Real Madrid lifted their second Spanish Super Cup on 23 September 2012. The Príncipe Felipe arena in Zaragoza hosted this edition, in which Palo Laso's team claimed the trophy by beating Barcelona in the final. Madrid had previously eliminated Zaragoza in the semi-final by 64-72.
In the title decider, Real Madrid ran out 84-95 winners, spearheaded by Rudy Fernández. The small forward posted 22 points and a PIR of 25 and was named MVP of the competition. Llull (14) and Carroll (17) were also standout performers in the final.
