Real Madrid clinch the Undécima and the Super Cup 2023
Chus Mateo's team won the EuroLeague in Kaunas thanks to Llull's seemingly impossible basket that will live long in the madridismo memory.
Real Madrid's basketball team brings 2023 to a close. The year of the Undécima. The year Llull scored the magical shot up against the enormous Fall with just three seconds to go, clinching victory over Olympiacos in the final to be crowned European champions in Kaunas. It was also the year of the spectacular EuroLeague playoff comeback against Partizan and the tenth Spanish Super Cup. A 2023 that sees Chus Mateo's boys sitting out on their own at the top of the League and the EuroLeague after winning 19 games in a row at the start of this new season. The team has also broken their record number of wins this year (74) and registered their best ever start to a EuroLeague campaign with 16 victories in 17 games.
The Undécima
After knocking out Partizan Belgrade in a historic playoff that saw Real Madrid come from 0-2 down, the team headed to Kaunas for their ninth Final Four in the last 12 years. In the semifinals, they came past Barcelona, before going head-to-head against Olympiacos in the showpiece on 21 May. Real Madrid got their hands on an Undécima European Cup in an unforgettable final decided by Llull's moment of magic. Tavares was named Final Four MVP. What's more, our Junior team clinched the EuroLeague in their age group.
Tenth Spanish Super Cup
Following the Undécima, Real Madrid got the 23-24 season underway by sealing their tenth Spanish Super Cup. In Murcia, led by Campazzo (named tournament MVP), Chus Mateo's team first got the better of Barça (80-90) before proving too strong for Unicaja in the final (81-88) to lift their second trophy of 2023.
