Real Madrid 2025/26, with Scariolo at the helm, get their season underway tonight at the Martín Carpena in Málaga with the Endesa Super Cup semi-final against La Laguna Tenerife. Our team, which enters the competition as the reigning league champions and the most successful in the tournament (10 titles), will attempt to reach the final for the eighth consecutive year. The other finalist will be the winner between Unicaja and Valencia Basket.
Underway
Everything is ready for the start of the season. A month after the first training session at the Real Madrid City pavilion and with five friendly matches under their belt, Madrid will be playing for their first official title this weekend. A Super Cup that they have lifted in six of the last seven editions, and in which they have been ever-present in the final since 2018. Today, they will face La Laguna Tenerife, a rival they have already met twice in the semi-finals. In both games, played in Tenerife, Madrid booked their final berth with scores of 79-92 (2020) and 70-72 (2021).
Malaga will also be the stage for this revamped Real Madrid with Scariolo at the helm, who is facing his second spell at the club. For one of the new signings, Krämer, it will be a special game as he will be playing against his former team. Others, such as Procida, Okeke, Lyles and Maledon, will be looking to maintain their good form from the pre-season. For their part, Campazzo and Llull will be aiming to make history in the competition by going for their fourth MVP award. The captain, who is starting his 20th season with Real Madrid, is also looking to become the first player to win 10 Super Cups.
The opponent
La Laguna Tenerife have strengthened the core of the team that has brought them such good results in recent years. Last season, they finished third in the regular season and reached the semi-finals. They have a very distinctive style of play, led by Marcelinho Huertas and Shermadini. In addition, they have more firepower, especially on the outside, with the arrival of Giedraitis, formerly of Baskonia, Alderete and Van Beck.
