The Real Madrid Foundation has a socio-sporting school in Cape Town in collaboration with SEK International in an educational centre at the primary and secondary International School of Hout Bay (ISHB). Hout Bay is situated on the outskirts of Cape Town where middle class and upper class areas meet settlements where the underprivileged social masses reside in a place where there has been a resurgence of racial tension.
The socio-sporting school has become a tool for social integration aimed at promoting social harmony between children and youngsters from different social and racial origins within the city. Those who benefit are students from four educational centres in the Hout Bay area (Disa Primary, Sentinel Primary, Orange Kloof Primary and Kronendal Primary) and the ISHB, who represent social and racial diversity in the area. As well as taking part in sports, the participants receive extra schooling once a week, take part in workshops about social techniques and play tournaments and friendly matches against other schools in Hout Bay.
