The Real Madrid group members’ meeting in Granada, which took place prior to tonight’s match against the team from Andalusia (22:00, C+ Liga and Gol T), kicked off with a video of all the goals Real Madrid has scored so far in all competitions. More than 200 members attended the meeting held at the Abades Nevada Palace hotel. The members were in a very confident mood due to the team’s start to 2013 and optimistic about the team’s chances in the match tonight. The club’s President, Florentino Pérez, did not want to miss the event that starred Eduardo Fernández de Blas, second vice-president, and that was also attended by Pedro López, third vice-president, the board members Ángel Luis Heras, Enrique Pérez and Manuel Cerezo and Emilio Butragueño, the club’s Director of Institutional Relations.
The meeting kicked off with a video of some of the best and greatest moments in Real Madrid’s history, which came to a close with images of the last title won by the club last season, the record-breaking Liga. Immediately after, Eduardo Fernández de Blas took centre stage: “Your strength and support are the essential driving forces behind Real Madrid’s growth in their constant pursuit of impossible goals. We are aware of what it means to be a Real Madrid supporter when located far away from the club. Your strength is what drives the excitement behind the club”.
The club’s second vice-president also spoke of the sports project: “Today our team is once again in a position that is should never abandon. Led by the world’s best manager, Mr. José Mourinho, the team has managed to regain its instinct to fight with huge possibilities of success for all the titles, which are our goals for each season”. Finally, Fernández de Blas made reference to the new aspirations that aim to keep the club growing: “We have brought together the world’s best architects to make the Santiago Bernabéu an architectural benchmark in the city of Madrid and in world football”.
At the end of his speech two new videos were shown. The first featured messages from the Real Madrid players and manager thanking the constant and overwhelming support that the club receives from all the groups and fans in each location. The second, which was very emotional and was greeted with applause, showed some of the most memorable moments that have made the club the legend it is today. Finally, the moment all the fans had been waiting for arrived; the opportunity to talk and have a photograph taken with Florentino Pérez. The Real Madrid President, who signed many autographs and received a plaque and an honorary member’s card from the Huéscar City Real Madrid Group alongside Eduardo Fernández de Blas, did not want to miss an event that was a success and in which all attendees hoped the team earned another La Liga victory tonight at the Nuevo Los Cármenes stadium.
