Due to medical reasons, Rafa Nadal has been forced to announce he will not be able to face Novak Djokovic at the Santiago Bernabeu in the charity ALMA NADAL match on 14 July.

Ana Maria Parera, President of Fundacion Rafa Nadal
"We are deeply sorry not to be able to satisfy the thousands who had already purchased a ticket. We wish to thank people for their unconditional support once again, as well as sponsors, who fervently supported this charity event to boost the actrivity of the Realmadrid Foundation and Fundacion Rafa Nadal."

Enrique Sanchez, Executive Vice President of the Realmadrid Foundation
"We're sorry for the cancellation and we wish Rafa Nadal a speedy recovery. We wish to express all our affection, support and recognition to him. We are convinced supporters will soon be able to enjoy this historic meeting to continue supporting the charitable projects of both foundations."

Both foundations thank Novak Djokovic for his predisposition and recognise his great human character by accepting to selflessly participate in the event. Both entities hope to announce a new date for the ALMA NADAL soon.

Rafa Nadal
"I wish to apologise to all, especially the supporters who had already purchased tickets for this good cause. I'm sorry, but we will not be able to hold the ALMA NADAL exhibition match in Madrid, at the Bernabeu, on 14 July. Doctors have been examining my knee and say I suffer from tendinitis on the patellar ligament and that I must rest for 15 days, which impedes me to play against Novak Djokovic as planned and announced. I saw the doctors on Monday and began the recovery process to be fit to represent Spain in the London Olympics. As I said, my first thought is for the supporters who had bought tickets, but I also wish to thank and apologise to Novak Djokovic, who was set to participate selflessly in the event. I also wish to apologise to the Realmadrid Foundation, which worked very hard with a team of my own foundation to make everything work out. We will try to look for a new date for the event. I will now combine my recovery with short holidays before returning to training in 15 days. Once again, thanks to all. Rafa Nadal."
