Fifty children from the Realmadrid Foundation and International Studies Foundation's social and sports academies attended the first squad's training session, which took place at Lincoln Financial Field, and were able to spend a short time with the Real Madrid players. They also had their photos taken with Florentino Pérez. "The Real Madrid Schools in the United States greet the champions", read a banner they carried. They are all also invited to the final pre-season match between the Whites and Celtic from Glasgow, which will be played in the very same stadium.
The Realmadrid Foundation's social and sports academies are a social project directed towards disadvantaged boys and girls in which sport and education are combined in order to spread sports values among children. There are roughly 200 of these schools present in over 60 countries. Two such schools will be opening in September in the United States in Arlington (Philadelphia) and in Worcester (Massachusetts) and a third will be inaugurated in January in Houston. More than 450 children will benefit from this social programme in its first year.
