Real Madrid will face Deportivo de La Coruña on 29 August at the Riazor in the 68th edition of the Teresa Herrera Trophy. This is the first time the Whites have taken part in this summer tournament in six years; after the host club, they have won this title more times than any other club on eight occasions.
The first time Real Madrid won the Teresa Herrera was in 1949, when they beat Racing de Paris 2-1. Four years later, taking part for the second time, they lifted the trophy again after thrashing Toulouse (8-1). In 1966, they won their third in the final against Deportivo de la Coruña (2-0). At the end of the 1970s, Real Madrid won on four other occasions, corresponding to the editions of 1976, 1978, 1979 and 1980. And they won their eighth Teresa Herrera in 1994.
