L'Equipe did a little resume of each of the players chosen. About Casillas they said: "He has recovered his place and the best goalkeeper in the world. Phenomenal on the line, he is fully mature at 31 years of age". About Sergio Ramos they said: "The best centre back at the moment, safe in one against one situations, powerful, skilful and dangerous close to the opposing goal".
"Always responds at key moments", they said about Xabi Alonso, highlighting the two goals he scored against France during the Euros. Finally, they referred Cristiano Ronaldo’s stats: "His 46 goals in the league were decisive in Real Madrid winning the league again. The Portuguese virtuoso also did well in the Champions League (10 goals) and in the European Championships (3 goals)".
