Real Madrid completed their first training session in Valdebebas ahead of this Saturday’s league match against Valladolid (20:00, C+ Liga and Gold TV), which is the fifteenth league match of the season. After completing the Champions League group stage with a win over Ajax, the team went back to work with a training session that featured two reserves players from Real Madrid Castilla, José Rodríguez and Fabinho. Essien played with the ball, continuing his recovery process on the pitch, while Benzema trained indoors.
The session, which took place in the Ciudad Real Madrid, started with three different working-groups. Adán, Pepe, Carvalho, Varane, Nacho, Khedira, Modric, Kaká, Callejón and Cristiano Ronaldo made up the first and trained under the instruction of Rui Faria. These ten players, who had played the most minutes against Ajax, did a recovery session in which they did running exercises and stretches on pitches 1 and 2.
The goalkeepers Casillas and Jesús made up the second group, which did specific exercises, both with and without the ball, with the goalkeeping coach Silvino Louro. The rest of the outfield players were in the third group, and they started the session with an intensive warm up before starting to work with the ball. They then did passing and controlling exercises, which they combined with speed work, before joining Casillas and Jesús for shooting practice.
The Madrid midfielder Essien also took to the pitch, where he used the ball and continued his process of recovery with specific exercises, while the forward Karim Benzema trained indoors.
