Morata played the 90 minutes of the first-leg game of the playoffs against Alcoyano and underlined the good play against the rival goal as the key to the white team's triumph: “It’s been a very hard fought game, in which we did well against their goal, and when it was clear we put it in. We achieved a good result in a game we knew was going to be difficult. Of course I like to make goals, but I’m happy when the team wins.”
The forward talked about his alternating between Castilla and the first team and his progress as a football player: “Real Madrid is the best in the world and whenever you’re with the first team, you’ve got to give the best of yourself. If I have to go play for Castilla, I do, and if the first team needs me, I'll be there. Real Madrid’s forwards are among the world’s best, and I’m hoping for my opportunities. I have to take advantage of the minutes, little by little, in order to be a better player.”
Finally, he expressed his happiness for José Rodríguez’s debut with a goal, his teammate on Castilla: “Starting out and scoring a goal like that is a dream. He’s a spectacular guy, an incredible player, and he’s started out with a great goal. I wish him the best.”
