At the start of his third season and after 117 matches as a Real Madrid player, Mesut Özil has already assisted his teammates for more than half a century of goals (51). The German, who has made assists in all of the competitions that he has played in as a Real Madrid player, was also leader in this aspect of the game in both the Champions League in 2010/11 (7) and in last year’s La Liga (17). His best ally has been Cristiano Ronaldo. In fact, the combination between the two has produced excellent returns for the Whites: 21 goals.

In the Nou Camp Mesut Özil exceeded the half century of assists with Real Madrid. The German has accumulated 51 assists in the 117 matches that he has played with the Whites (0.43 per match). His assists stats are regular and constant. In his first season at the club he created 25 goals, whilst last season he created 24 (in both seasons he curiously ended the league with the same figure: 17). This campaign he has already reached two.

He has assists in all competitions
The German midfielder has helped his teammates in the four official competitions that he has played in as a Real Madrid player: League (35) Champions League (10) Copa del Rey (5) and Spanish Super Cup (1).

He has been the leader in terms of number of assists in both the 2010/11continental showpiece (with seven, ahead of the five managed by Lennon, Etoo, Martins and Srna) and in the last league championship, in which he created 17 goals and finished ahead of Messi’s 16.

Cristiano Ronaldo is his best ally
Of the 51 assists that Özil has with Real Madrid, about half of them (21) have been to Cristiano Ronaldo (41%). This has been best shown in what we have seen this season. The German’s two assists have been finished by the Portuguese. Interestingly they were both were at the Nou Camp. The first put his team in front in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup and the second was for Real Madrid’s most recent goal.
