Since the 3 May 2011, when Marcelo scored at the blaugrana stadium in the Champions League semi-finals, Real Madrid have beaten the Barcelona goal on all of their subsequent visits to the Camp Nou. Furthermore, they have done so in all possible competitions, twice in the Super Cup, and once in la Liga, Champions League and the Spanish Cup. Nine goals in total, a demonstration of the Whites’ marksmanship in the Clásicos played away from home.
The current run of scoring on five consecutive visits to the Camp Nou is something that has not happened for 19 years, when Real Madrid went on a run of seven consecutive matches scoring at least once per match at the Camp Nou, between October 1989 and December 1993. On that occasion, Madrid scored the goals in four la Liga matches, two Super Cup matches and one Spanish cup match.
With regard to the Madrid goal scorers, Cristiano Ronaldo stands out with four goals in his last four visits, a feat no one else in the history of Real Madrid has achieved. Özil has been a key part of the Portuguese player’s success in achieving this feat, since he has provided the assists for his last three goals at the Camp Nou. Benzema is the other Real Madrid player who has scored more than once in the recent Clásicos that have been played in Barcelona.
