José Mourinho spoke in the Vallecas stadium press room of a difficult match in which his team “has shown attitude and has been committed”. The Real Madrid coach went home pleased about the hard-earned victory: “What's important is that we've scored enough goals to win a match that we have dominated”. He also indicated that at this point accuracy at goal is not his major concern: “What we need now is to win matches”.

He underlined his team's mentality playing tonight in Vallecas: “If we had played other Liga matches with a similar attitude we would have won them. It was a difficult match that required absolute concentration and motivation. I believe the team has responded well. Play could have been better despite the pressure from our adversary and their considerable running, but the team has shown attitude, was committed to the match and has played as a team”.
In addition, he indicated that other circumstances surrounding the match ended up having an influence: “It isn't easy, but I don't think it's easy for them or for us. You come focused and ready to play, you're waiting and waiting and you don't play. You leave and you don't know when you're going to play. It isn't an easy situation for either of the teams, but we've both overcome this difficulty and although we've arrived in conditions that don't lend themselves to top-level matches, in the end it's been a great football match”.
Regarding the match itself, Mourinho affirmed that Real Madrid had a well-deserved win against a worthy rival: “It was a match with a lot of pressure. They applied considerable pressure and we did too when they sent out the ball in order to force them to send it far. We had great opportunities at goal after the 2-0. Three or four where we didn't score although they were easy scoring situations. Besides a counter attack in the first half and a lost ball by Arbeloa in the second, I don't recall any great goal opportunities from our rival”.
Mourinho also stated that it's not possible to always maintain last season's level of accuracy and that in this one they are still in search of their best play: “Last season we were very accurate and for that reason we scored so many goals. Right now it's a moment in which we're not in really really good form and with top confidence and what we need is to win matches. It's not the time to worry about accuracy at goal. Last year we scored three goals in three occasions. What's important is that we have scored enough goals to win a match that we have dominated”.
