Pepe started in the Real Madrid defence in the match at the Sánchez Pizjuán. The Brazilian highlighted the team’s effort during the match: "We conceded a goal in the opening minutes and that made things difficult. It is difficult because we are eight points behind the tops spots, but more important is to know that the team has worked hard. There’s the whole season ahead and we need to fight back and think about the next match against Manchester City."

The central back highlighted the control of the ball that the team had during the match and sent a positive message to the fans: "We had the initiative in the match all the time, there was a lot of possession but no chances, Sevilla defended pretty well. We will fight to the end, one must sweat for the shirt and we will give everything because we are Real Madrid."

Pepe also mentioned Sevilla’s goal: "We need to talk that amongst ourselves because we cannot concede from set pieces. It's our fault, the coach has told us many times, but we do well when we in open play."
