It is business as usual for Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuaín. They finished the season as protagonists of the most outstanding Real Madrid in history and have returned from the summer holidays with an improved aim. Both of them are showing great effectiveness in the kick-off of the official competition, with eight goals in five matches. The Portuguese was decisive in winning the Super Cup and notched up two goals in the league victory against Granada. “El Pipita”, for his part, has seen the goal in the three days of the championship and also managed to beat Valdés in the second of the classics.

Angel di María managed a goal in the final minutes of the first leg of the Super Cup which, at the end of the day, would be decisive for the title. This has been the only goal so far not scored by the Cristiano-Higuaín duo. The Portuguese remained without any goals in the first two Liga days , but did not miss his appointment with the goal in the Super Cup matches. In the Camp Nou he opened the scoreboard with an accurate header and in the Santiago Bernabeu scored the second and definitive Madrid goal. Moreover , his double goal in the last match against Granada made possible the league victory by the reigning champion.

And if Cristiano Ronaldo is in a class of his own, Higuaín is not far behind. The Argentinian has scored four goals which have allowed him to be included among the 15 historic highest scorers of the club. Since his arrival in January 2007 he has scored 107 goals, outdoing the records of forwards of the quality of Ronaldo or Molowny. At the start of this season, Valencia, Getafe and Granada in the Liga and Barcelona in the Super Cup , have been victims of his goal-scoring voracity.
