Nacho Fernández has become the latest addition to the Whites’ first team squad. As a product of the youth system, he completed the whole pre-season under the guidance of José Mourinho, and is now training with the Real Madrid first team squad, just as Jesús and Morata have done before him. The captain of Castilla, who made his debut for Real Madrid two seasons ago at the Mestalla, will don the number 27 shirt.
José Ignacio Fernández Iglesias, better known as Nacho, has been with Real Madrid for more than a decade. He has been playing his trade in the Real Madrid sub-categories since 2001. After four seasons anchoring Castilla’s defence, the captain of Real Madrid’s reserve team has become the newest addition to the team managed by José Mourinho, and he will wear the number 27 shirt.
The product of the youth team has already experienced first team football in the top flight. He made his debut for the first team at the Mestalla on 23 April 2011 (3-6). He was in the starting eleven that day confirming his potential as a future star of Real Madrid’s youth set-up in the process. So much so that José Mourinho has called upon his services in the last two pre-season campaigns for Real Madrid.
