Emilio Butragueño expressed his thoughts shortly after a draw which did not look particularly favourably on Real Madrid, as Real Madrid’s director of Institutional Relations stated himself. “The draw hasn’t been too kind to us, but our opponents will probably be thinking the same thing”. Far from thinking about their group opponents, the objective for Real Madrid is to make it to Wembley: “We are Real Madrid and our aim is to make it all the way to the final”.
Luck was not on the side of the Whites in the Champions league draw. However, Real Madrid know full well that if they wish to reach the final, they will have to face the best that Europe has to offer. Emilio Butragueño said that “the draw hasn’t been too kind to us”, but, at the same time, he stated that “our opponents will probably be thinking the same thing. They will be tight matches and we will have to be well prepared. Ajax are a good team, Dortmund have won the Bundesliga two years in a row and City are a very strong team which has invested considerably in recent years. They will certainly be an opponent of the highest order”. Lastly, Butragueño spoke about the chances of the Whites: “We are Real Madrid and our aim is to make it all the way to the final”.
