Mourinho amongst top ten Whites’ coaches in terms of league appearances
Following the match against Valencia, the Portuguese equalled José Villalonga’s 77 league matches in charge

José Mourinho’s first match in charge of Real Madrid in La Liga was against Mallorca on 29th August 2010. Two years later he has entered into the Whites’ history books by breaking into the list of the ten coaches with the most matches in charge in the national competition when he equalled José Villalonga feat of 77 matches. The man from Setubal is now part of a list led by Miguel Muñoz and in which appears names such as Beenhaker, Molowny and Di Stéfano. The next target for the Portuguese is Capello’s 80 match stint and, throughout the season, he is set to surpass Di Stéfano, Bru, Boskov and Miljanic’s totals, to end up in fifth place in the list.

Jose Mourinho has led Real Madrid for 77 league matches in which he has amassed a total of 61 wins, 10 draws and 6 losses, which is the best win average amongst all of the coaches in the top ten. Behind Mourinho, who has won 79% of his matches, is Leo Beenhaker with 64% and then, on the last step on the podium, is Fabio Capello with 62%.
