Real Madrid has successfully topped off their round of seven preseason friendlies in Europe and the United States with a win against Inter Milan in Saint Louis ahead of the final preparations for the upcoming 2013/2014 season. The Whites are undefeated after the seven matches in which Ancelotti used 27 players, including academy player and new addition Carvajal, who with 492 minutes played is the player with the most time on the pitch this preseason.
Carvajal started in five of the seven preseason friendlies on Real Madrid’s 2013 summer tour. The academy player was in the starting line-up for the matches against Bournemouth, Lyon, PSG, Los Angeles Galaxy and Inter Milan, and took his turn on the pitch in the second halves of the matches against Everton and Chelsea. A total of 492 minutes between all seven matches in which Carvajal disputed at least 45 minutes per game, demonstrating his great physical ability, intelligent positioning, immense speed on defence and a knack for forming a dangerous part of the Whites’ attack.
Pepe, with 468 minutes played, follows the defender on the list as the second Real player with the most time on the pitch this preseason. Cristiano Ronaldo, Ancelotti’s top scorer this preseason, comes in third with 438 minutes played, while fellow academy-player Nacho holds the fourth spot with 433 minutes. Di Maria, with 426, and Khedira, with 410, are the other two Real players who broke the 400 minute mark on the squad’s 2013 tour.
