Real Madrid have notched up the most consecutive away games in which they have scored a goal in the Champions League. The Whites, who have scored in 15 consecutive away games in the premier European competition, overtake Bayern, Barcelona and Chelsea, who managed to score in 14 away games in a row. Lyon and Ajax, on two occasions, Auxerre, Milan, Ajax, Tottenham, Barcelona, Dynamo Zagreb, CSKA Moscow, APOEL, Bayern, Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City were the opponents at whose grounds Real Madrid managed to score. José Mourinho has been part of two of the four best runs of form in the tournament: the full run of Real Madrid and 5 of the 14 games in which Chelsea scored an away goal.
In the year when the 20th anniversary of the change of name from the European Cup to the Champions League is celebrated (1992/93), Real Madrid are again making history in the premier European competition and have become the team to score an away goal in most consecutive games in the tournament.
The Whites have notched up 15 games in which they have scored an away goal in the competition and overtake the 14 that Chelsea (from 99-00 to 04-05, both inclusive), Barcelona (09-10/11-12) and Bayern (04-05/08-09) managed, and the 13 of Olympique Lyon (04-05/06-07). The French and Catalan outfits are the only sides of these four behind Madrid who managed to achieve the feat with no interruption between seasons while the English team went three seasons without playing in the competition in the middle of their run (00-01, 01-02 and 02-03) and the Germans one (07-08).
