Just barely two months after the beginning of the 2012/13 season, José Mourinho has already given play time to all of his outfield players. In the course of the 15 official matches played, all of the first-team footballers have played, with the exception of the goalkeeper Jesús, who has had play time with Castilla in the second division. In addition, the 23 players have all been in the starting eleven on at least one occasion. Casillas, Cristiano Ronaldo, Xabi Alonso, Sergio Ramos, and Pepe have surpassed 1,000 minutes and are the five players who have had the most time on the field.
On several occasions Mourinho has stressed the importance of all of the components of the team over the course of the season. The Portuguese coach has given opportunities to practically all of his players in the four official competitions in which the team has participated. Only Jesús has not yet debuted with the first team, but he has played six games with Castilla. The most recent players to debut this season were Adán and Carvalho, who participated in the first-leg game of the Copa del Rey round of thirty-two against Alcoyano.
Casillas is the player with the most minutes (1,319) of play time. Cristiano Ronaldo, Xabi Alonso, Sergio Ramos, and Pepe are the other players who have played for more than 1,000 minutes. In addition, the 23 footballers have all been in the starting eleven on at least one occasion. The two transfers, Modric and Essien, have had more than 500 minutes on the field.
