Castilla travel to the Canary Islands as part of match day 30 of the second division to play against UD Las Palmas, one of the teams at the top of the table. The squad will have a tough match against the yellow team, who are unbeaten at home since October. Getting the three points, would mean that Castilla return to winning ways away from home after having stumbled in the last two away trips and would move them closer to safety in the Liga Adelante.
In the pre-match build-up, Lucas highlighted their next opponents’ dangerous attack: "Las Palmas are a great team, who are very strong in the middle of the park and up front. We have to defend well and make the best of the opportunities that we get". He was one of the best players in Real Madrid Castilla’s win in the first half of the season and scored the clincher in the 3-2 final scoreline. Borja and Jesse were the other scorers in the last match against the team from the Canaries.
Alberto Toril once again includes Nacho in defense for the sixth straight match. The Real Madrid Castilla coach has picked 18 players to travel to the Canary Islands and get the fourth win of the season away from the Alfredo Di Stefano. Of the five away matches in 2013 Castilla have scored in four, and this ease of scoring will be their main weapon in the Estadio de Gran Canaria.
The team led by Sergio Lobera is going through good run of form in their stadium, where they have not lost in the last 11 matches. The islanders come into this match in seventh position and with aspirations of achieving promotion. They also have Vitolo, the team's top scorer with 11 goals, available after the Competition Committee wiped out the second yellow for which he was sent off in the last match.
