For one of them it will be his second year in the Euroleague and the other will fulfil a dream with his debut in the European competition, but Carroll and Draper, the Real Madrid shooting guard and point guard, are both convinced that the team has enough ability to make it to the final. With just over 48 hours until the Whites start in the competition, the shooting guard from Wyoming said: “We want to be one of the top teams in this year’s Euroleague”. Meanwhile the point guard from Baltimore said: “If we play as a team we can fulfil our ambitions”.
Despite last season’s disappointment, the team is back at full strength and their good run of results in preseason and in the first two matches of the season make them think that their debut could turn out as hoped. Jaycee Carroll is eager to start the competition: “Last year we ended up feeling quite sad and this year we want to achieve more. The first group is very difficult. We have to play Khimki, Panathinaikos and Fenerbahce. But we have to set out to win everywhere if we want to reach the final”.
For his part, Draper, who on arriving in Madrid said that playing against Europe’s biggest teams in this competition was a dream, is convinced that this team can play well despite the high level of the competition: “It is a difficult group and we will have to play well and concentrate in every match. We have a great team and we are ready to make it to the final. If we play as a team we can fulfil our ambitions”.
