Read Madrid now knows who all their rivals will be in the Group Stage of the 2012/2013 Euroleague that begins on October 11. Mapooro Cantu will be the sixth team in Group A after topping the other seven teams fighting in the previous stage for the last opening so as to get into the final frame of the competition. After the drawing held last July 6, the Italian team, as well as Real Madrid, will form part of the group together with the Greek team Panathinaikos, Khimki from Moscow, Fenerbahce from Istanbul, and Olimpija Ljubljana.
Real Madrid will play against the Greeks, Russians, Turks, Slovenians, and Italians starting October 11 to get into the group's top four so as to go on to the following stage where there will be 16 teams. Then this new edition of the Euroleague will see some changes in the competition system, in particular the new Top 16 with two groups of eight teams, with the top four from each group going on to playoffs to decide the four who will qualify for the Final Four to play in London in May, 2013.
