Real Madrid won the Costa del Sol Tournament with authority after beating Unicaja at the Pabellón Fernando Argüelles de Antequera arena. The team, led by Pablo Laso, demonstrated their speed and precision from the three-point line. Mirotic and Reyes were the top Real Madrid scorers with 20 and 16 points respectively. There was also a good performance by Rudy Fernández, who secured 12 points for the team, as well as Sergio Rodríguez with 11 assists.
Real Madrid based its victory on the first part of the game, which finished with the clear domination of the Whites on the scoreboard. 28-43 at half time meant it was impossible for the Andalusian team to make a comeback. Mirotic began the game strong, but the home team managed to hold out on the scoreboard thanks to their skill shooting long and mid-range shots.
It was during the second quarter that the Whites began to take the lead which would later turn out to be decisive. The speed of the duo Llull-Rodríguez and four consecutive points from Suárez allowed Laso's team to reach half time with a lead of 15 points. The junior player Hernangómez also performed outstandingly in this quarter, during which he scored six points and brought strength to the defence.
After stopping by the changing rooms, Unicaja seemed to react, led by Dragic, but the Real Madrid players secured the lead thanks to the skill of Mirotic and the work of Slaughter under the hoops. The last quarter followed the dynamic of the rest of the game, with the Whites getting the maximum lead in the game (17 points). Thanks to Madrid's great defensive skill shown throughout the game, the ten players used by Laso managed to score.
