Seven warm-up matches, seven wins. The Spanish basketball team remain undefeated on their way to the Olympic Games in London, but its biggest challenge remains, the match against the USA. Four Real Madrid players are part of the team led by Scariolo that, regardless of what happens against James, Durant and Bryant, will arrive Olympic Games having achieved what they needed to. In fact, two of those Real Madrid players are among the top three scorers in the national team. Sergio Llull, with 73 points and Felipe Reyes, 68, follow Pau Gasol in the rankings
Both Real Madrid players are producing some spectacular performances during the warm-up tour and their contribution in each and every one of the matches has been invaluable. Sergio Llull, regular Real Madrid point guard, has adapted perfectly to the number 2 position and his numbers prove this. The Menorcan guard, the most-used player to date by coach Sergio Scariolo with 155.85 minutes, has averaged 10.4 points per game for his team, totalling 78. This figure places him as the second highest scorer behind NBA centre Pau Gasol, who has 120 points in seven games. In addition, the Real Madrid point guard also contributes to the fluidity of the game and has 20 assists in total, almost three per game.
Conversely, the Real Madrid captain, Felipe Reyes, has, together with the Gasol brothers achieved a rebound average of seven per game, but is a little thin on the scoring side. The Cordoban centre has a total of 68 points, an average of 9.7 per game. This stat puts him third leading scorer in the team.
