Pablo Laso appeared at the end of the match and said he was satisfied with Real Madrid’s performance in the FedExForum: “The team has competed well and we have managed to improve during the match. I hope that this will help us to do better in Toronto”. The Madrid coach also spoke about the quality of their opponent, saying, “it is a play-off team with great players”.

Laso explained that they took a while getting into the game: “We have found it hard to adjust to the game, especially its speed. We are talking about an NBA playoff team with great players, very dominant players, but we have managed to improve during the match. We have been able to try different things, and try out different defences, aware that we had a very tough opponent”.

Laso praised his team’s mentality as they always believed the win was possible. “The knowledge that we were close with four minutes to go is important. So is the fact that they have had to bring on their best players. I am happy because the team has shown it can compete well. We could have done some things better… It has not been easy. They have called a lot of fouls against us and we have to get used to this style of refereeing and I hope that this will help us to do better on Monday in Toronto”.

Finally, the Madrid coach thinks that this is a good opportunity to train ahead of the official matches. “We do not like losing and this is the first match we have lost this season, but I feel positive about it. There have been some good things. We have rotated the players a lot and we have faced up to a great opponent. We have managed to compete in different ways, knowing that this will help us learn for the future”.
