Borussia Dortmund were victorious in their last league match before hosting Real Madrid in the Champions League. Reus and Lewandowski scored the goals that earned their team victory, which takes the team closer to ensuring second place in the Bundesliga. Real Madrid’s next opponent displayed their good form with a fifth consecutive victory in the German championship.
The home side took only one minute to find the back of the Mainz 05 net. Reus did not waste the opportunity to score from a rebound after an unlucky break by Wetklo to score. The goal settled the match for Borussia, who barely suffered any scares and clearly dominated possession. With normal time almost coming to an end, Lewandowski made the most of an assist from the winger Piszczek to seal the victory. The Polish forward scored his twenty-third goal of the season, and is top scorer in the Bundesliga.
