Title to be decided in final game in Barcelona

Edu Bueno / Translation by Michael J. O'Donnell

Real Madrid and Barcelopna will face-off a final time in the last game of the playoffs to see who ends up winning the Endesa League title.

Real have a chance to win their 31st league title after taking the Copa del Rey earlier in the season also at the Palau against Barcelona. The local atmosphere, the refereeing crew and an opponent that will put their mental strength to the test will be the Whites' hurdles towards their objective.

Rebounds and shots outside the key will be decisive yet again. The Madridistas have won every game in the series in which they were better at pulling down rebounds, except for Game 1, in which Barça won thanks to a last-second three-pointer by Huertas. Defensive rebounds are the basis of Real's fast counterattacking style and Tomic is key in this - indeed, the Croatian centre could very well earn MVP honours for the final series if Real Madrid win tonight.

TEAM STATS
TEAM PF PA REB AS BL ST T.O.
Regal Barcelona 72.5 78.7 30.2 9.7 5 6.2 10
Real Madrid 78.7 72.5 37.2 15 3 4.7 11.7

Erazem Lorbek is Barcelona's top scorer in the series and poses a great threat to Real. Velickovic and Reyes will have to try to cancel him out as much as possible. This will also be key for the Whites to win because Vazquez and N'Dong are performing under par and Barcelona greatly rely on the centre's points. Madrid's powerful rotations inside the key will play an important role and Mirotic will surely play a crucial role again at destabilising the local defence.

The Whites are also killers from outside the perimeter and their main three-point shooters are proving to be Rodriguez and Carroll. Except for Tomic, Reyes and Begic, the rest of the roster is also good from the three-point line.

Navarro and Mickeal have been Barça's main playmakers in the series, but men like C. J. Wallace and Huertas should also be reckoned with. Barcelona scored less than 70 points in the two games they lost in the series, meaning defence will again be key for the Madridistas to try to win a league title at the Palau again, something Reyes and Llull managed to do with the team back in the 2006/07 campaign.
