With Real’s fourth goal against Valladolid at the Bernabéu, Ronaldo’s second of the match, he and Özil are now the most successful goal-scoring partnership in La Liga in the 21st century. The Portuguese striker has netted a total of twenty times in the Spanish league championship with an assist from the German player. They have thus overtaken the 19 goals scored with assists from Yeste to Urzaiz for Athletic Bilbao and the 18 scored by the Navas- Kanouté tandem for Seville.
Ever since Mesut Özil joined Real Madrid in the 2010/11 season, his connection with Cristiano Ronaldo has been absolute. Indeed, in La Liga alone, the German has provided 20 assists that have ended in a goal from the Portuguese, and thanks to this extraordinary rate of success; they have become the most successful goal-scoring partnership in the Spanish league championship so far this century. Their nearest rivals are Yeste-Urzaiz and Navas-Kanouté, with 19 scores for Athletic de Bilbao and 18 for Seville respectively.
