The squad surprised Jose Mourinho with a birthday cake the day he turned 49 years old. It was presented to him by team captains Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos.
The coach arrived at Valdebebas as usual to supervise the training session, stepping onto the training pitch with his staff. The players arrived one by one and said nothing until Casillas and Ramos came out with the cake and everyone started to sing Happy Birthday. Mourinho was surprised and blew out the candles as he received an ovation from his men.
Jose Mourinho was born on 26 January 1963 in Setubal, Portugal. His successful carrer as coach began in 2000 at Benfica in the Portuguese league against Boavista. He landed at Porto after a brief spell with Uniao Leiria, leading them to 2003 league title success. Porto won the league again the following year, and went on to win the UEFA Cup and Champions League in consecutive seasons. This impressive run established Mourinho as one of the best coaches in Europe.
He then joined Chelsea and, later, Inter Milan, with whom he won the Champions League again just before arriving at Real Madrid, helping the Whites win their first Copa del Rey title in 18 years in 2011. His Real Madrid has won 70 our of 92 official games (76%), scored 252 goals and conceded only 75.
