Real Madrid President Florentino Perez received the club's Gold Insignia as a reward for his 50 year membership. Honorary President Alfredo di Stefano bestowed the insignia on Perez.

"Half a century as a Club Member prove his devotion and efforts for the Real Madrid," said Emilio Butragueño, "He had the honour of receiving the Best Club of the 20th Century award from the President of FIFA, Joseph Blatter, and he transformed the club into the modern organisation it is today."

"Today is also special and emotional for me: I receive the 50 year insignia with great pride and responsibility," said Perez, "Today we receive the insignia of the club we love and the thought of someone close to us to whom we owe the honour of being part of this club. Feeling proud of being a Madridista is to assume the responsibility of instilling this universal feeling in our children."
