Real Madrid sealed the first leg of the group stage with a spectacular win over Anadolu Efes at the Caja Magica. All of Pablo Laso's men scored, with special mention of Carroll, who banked 19 points in 25 minutes.
The Whites gave a clinic show of how to move the ball around and looked very comfortable on the court. Suarez and Rudy opened the pour with four points, while Mirotic and Tomic cancelled out their markers under the iron. Mirotic worked hard in both offence and defence, netting six points and serving Barac a block. An alley-oop between Rodriguez and Rudy gave the Whites a 9-point cushion (20-11, 8'), forcing visiting coach Sarica to ask for time-out.
Batista and Savanovic came on and improved things for Efes. Their work in the paint allowed Akyol and Tunçeri to score three-pointers that kept the team alive at the start of the second quarter (30-25, 14'). Jaycee Carroll then pulled rank and netted three of four three-pointer attempts, banking a total 11 points in the period (50-36, 20').
Real's strong defence reduced Anadolu's offence to a pulp and only Kuqo managed to score several points for the Turks (14 in total). Meanwhile, everyone contributed in the Madridistas' offence: Rodriguez controlled the pace to the game, Suarez netted several points (14), Reyes proved decisive in the key and Carroll continued scoring three-pointer after three-pointer (19 points in 18 minutes; 72-50, 30').
Ilyasova and Savanovic capitalised on Real's relaxation in the final period and reduced distances for their team (83-76, 36'), but Rudy put an end to their aspirations with a block and two three-pointers, eventually scoring eight points in the quarter. The academy's Jorge Sanz made his Euroleague debut with the first team and sealed it with a three-pointer at the sound of the buzzer (104-84, 40).
