Real Madrid will face Galatasaray, the most honoured side in Turkish football history, in the 33rd edition of the Santiago Bernabeu Trophy. The Whites look to win the title again this year by giving a performance worthy of the great football they showcased during the preseason and in the Spanish Super Cup.
Galatasaray have never participated in the Santiago Bernabeu Trophy. This will be their second match at the stadium after losing the return leg of the 2000/01 Champions League quarterfinals 3-0.
Jose Mourinho will take all his men with him to the match, as well as the academy's Tomas Mejias, Nacho, Alex, Mendes, Mandi and Morata.
Real Madrid won the six previous editions of the Trophy by defeating MLS Soccer Selection, Anderlecht, Partizan, Sporting Portugal, Rosenborg and Peñarol. If they win tonight, they will equal the run they had between 1994 and 2000 by defeating Palmeiras, Ajax, Benfica, Portuguesa, Peñarol, Milan and Santos.
