Real Madrid would have left the Riazor victorious on Saturday had second half shots by Adebayor and Cristiano Ronaldo not struck off the woodwork. It's not an unfamiliar circumstance for the Whites, who are second in the league with twelve shots that have hit the post.
Had either of the two shots found the back of the net, Real Madrid would return home with three points in tow. But it wasn't the first time the woodwork has stymied the Whites this season. On 16 January against Almeria, a Cristiano Ronaldo shot struck the crossbar and would have surely been the winner had it gone in.
