Iker Casillas has collaborated with charity organizations and shown gestures of solidarity throughout his successful career. According to the Madridista and Spain captain, "It’s my way of giving back a little bit of everything that life has given to me."
► July 2007. First trip to Sierra Leon.
As ambassador of the Real Madrid Foundation, Iker Casillas traveled to Sierra Leon with the DYES NGO. In Madina, one of the most impoverished areas of the country, Casillas laid the first brick of a new primary school and football academy that bears the name Real Madrid.
► July 2008. Trip to Peru.
Only days after winning Euro 2008, Casillas traveled to Cuzco, Peru with Plan Internacional in support of infant protection. He an Emilio Butragueño participated in a football match it the rural community of Patabamba, after which he offered advice on perseverance and accomplishing goals.
► December 2008. Second edition of Match Agianst Malaria.
Rafael Nadal and Iker Casillas teamed up with other stars for a charity match that saw all proceeds donated to the prevention against malaria.
► March 2009. Battle against infant poverty.
In conjunction with the Plan NGO, Casillas unveils the “Stop Infant Poverty” campaign to help reduce extreme infant poverty and improve living conditions through violent-free education.
► July 2009. Humanitarian aid in Mali.
The goalkeeper traveled to Bamako along with the Plan Ngo. “This fulfills me,” he said after the experience, which included a visit to the Early Infant Stimulation Center and a meeting with Boourama, the boy he sponsors.
► July 2009. Inauguration of Caracas academy.
More than 230 children participated as Casillas donned his keeper gloves and had the kids take penalty kicks.
► November 2009. Another campaign supporting children.
The Plan NGO presentes the “I can’t vote but I have a voice” campaign which promotes children’s rights. According to Casillas, who attended the event, “Improving the lives of children is something that affects us all.”
► January 2010. Appeal for Haiti.
Casillas served as the spokesman for Spanish athletes in conjunction with the Plan ONG to ask for assistance and help for Haiti earthquake victims. “We can do great things with a little bit of help from everyone,” declared the Madridista.
► December 2010. “Partido por la ilusion” charity match.
Iker Casillas and Luis Figo organize the “Partido por la ilusion” match, whose proceeds were donated to various charity organizations. “It’s my way of giving back a little bit of everything that life has given to me,” commented Casillas after the match.

Casillas appears at Clinica Menorca Foundation to pass out presents to more than 500 disabled and impoverished children.
