Real Madrid were unable to notch more than a draw against Levante on Saturday despite the numerous chances they had to score and their inability to execute in front of goal.

The Whites took quick control of the match and in no time had their first opportunities to take the lead. Higuin sent the ball high on 10’ and nine minutes later Di Maria was unable to beat Reina. Levante gained momentum and midway through the half took the game to Real, unsettling Mourinho’s men who had no response.

Cristiano Ronaldo elevated about the defenders on 39’ but his header was cleared by Reina. Number ‘7’ had another opportunity before the break, but his lob sailed just wide.

The second half began with Real Madrid again threatening to score. Xabi Alonso found the post on 49’, while Casillas could only watch from a distance will little work coming his way. Mourinho got some fresh legs on the field by replacing Di Maria with Pedro Leon and Ozil with Benzema.

Real’s surge forced Levante into their own box. Real Madrid continued rotating the ball but to little avail. The players look anxious and were unable to create chances to capitalize on. Multiple stoppages by the referee and turnovers by the Whites frustrated coach and players alike.

Pedro Leon nearly found the back of the net on 85’ but the shot hung over the crossbar. Madrid pressured and the midfielder had another chance only to be stymied by Reina. Higuain found himself alone in front of the keeper with seconds to go, but Reina picked correctly and made the save to seal the 0-0 draw.
