Spain played a serious and solid game against Greece, showcasing concentration skills they seemed to lack in previous fixtures. Starters and benched players alike gave spectacular performances. Garbajosa netted 5 points in the opening quarter; Llull was again decisive in the second half by scoring nine points and capitalising on mistakes in the Greek defence; Reyes was unstoppable both in offence (6 points) and in defence, where he was well positioned in the key at all times. The victory allowed Spain to reach the quarterfinals, where they will face Velickovic's Serbia.
Serbia reached the quarterfinals before Spain by defeating Croatia in a very tight encounter. Velickovic made the starting five and helped his side earn a 5-0 run at the start of the encounter, but his team eventually failed to capitalise on several chances that would have allowed them to soar and distance themselves greatly in the scoreboard. Tomic was a starter with Croatia and helped to turn the score around before the second quarter (19-27).The clash was an even affair throughout, and with 12 seconds left in the game there still wasn't a clear winner. A last-second free throw from Rasic gave the Serbs a ticket to the quarterfinals.
