Real Madrid will play their first preseason game on Saturday against Power Electronics Valencia in the Villa de Mislata Trophy, which commemorates the 25th anniversary of Valencia Basket.
The friendly will be useful to the Whites, as it will allow them to see in what form they currently are. It will also give the team's latest signings a chance to adapt to Ettore Messina's style. Real Madrid's six internationals are currently playing in the FIBA World Championship. Sergio Rodriguez, Clay Tucker, D'or Fischer, Sergi Vidal and Nicola Mirotic will therefore be joined in Valencia by youth teamers Arteaga, Sanz, De Miguel, Marina, Gil and Socas. The game will mark the Real Madrid debut of Sergio Rodriguez following a four-year stint in the NBA.
Valencia had an extraordinary run in the 2009/10 campaign, coming in fourth at the end of the regular season. The team has nevertheless been renewed. Nielsen, Perovic, Kelati and Pietrus, have been replaced by Javtokas, Savanovic, Fernandez, Augustine and Cook. Star player Rafa Martinez remains on the roster. Internationals De Colo, Savanovic, Javtokas and Claver will miss the game as they too are in the World Championship.
