Real Madrid's Director of Institutional Relations, Emilio Butragueño, and Sports Director Miguel Pardeza commented on the Champions League draw.
Pardeza
"Three former European champions will meet in our group and Auxerre seem to be the inevitable French side in our Champions League groups of recent years. It doesn't seem to be a placid group, but none are in this tournament. Our three rivals will be tough to beat, but this will help us grow stronger. The more difficulties we face, the more it will help us pave our path towards the final."
"Real Madrid has earned its prestige by its own hand. No one would like to face us, especially after the changes we've made this summer. We will be more competitive than last year."
Butragueño
"This group is filled with history and it will be appealing to fans and journalists alike. Football is an even sport nowadays and there is no easy opponent. The third and fourth teams in our group will be complicated, but I believe we will pull through. We must take one step at a time and only think about the group stage."
"It's natural that teams didn't want to face us. We aspire to win La Liga and the Champions League and the history of the Bernabeu has a lot of weight."
